Emocore

Emocore, short for "emotional hardcore," is a subgenre of hardcore punk that originated in the mid-1980s. It is characterized by its intense, introspective lyrics and aggressive, sometimes chaotic instrumentation. Emocore bands often deal with personal struggles and social issues, and have a DIY ethos. It has influenced many other genres of music, including post-hardcore and screamo.
