Doo-wop

A genre of music that originated in African American communities in the 1940s and 1950s. Characterized by its tight vocal harmonies and simple melodies, doo-wop often featured nonsense syllables and a cappella singing. It was popularized by groups such as The Platters, The Drifters, and The Coasters.
