Musica Antigua

Also known as "early music," this genre refers to classical music from the medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. The music is typically performed on period instruments such as the lute, harpsichord, and viola da gamba, and often features intricate polyphonic textures and complex harmonies. The lyrics are often in Latin or other languages of the time, and deal with religious or courtly themes.
